Yuriorkis Gamboa passed his last test before fighting for the world championship by stopping Roger "Speedy" Gonzalez in round 10. "El Ciclon" dominated the fight winning every round except the second when Gonzalez caught him off balance for a knockdown. Referee Robert Byrd stopped the one-sided fight after 2:12 minutes of the final round when Gamboa overwhelmed his opponent with one of his lethal combinations.
