Q: Many people think you are one of the hottest pospect in boxing. How would you describe your career so far?
A: I think I had a pretty good start. But I know that I am still young and I still want to learn and develop. All people around me - my promoter, my management, my trainer, my team - have done a great job in taking my career to where it is right now and I want to thank them all for their wonderful work. I just step into the ring and do my job which is basically knocking out my opponents to become champion of the world.
Q: What was your toughest fight so far?
A: I don't think I had to face too tough challenges but the fight against Darling Jimenez went the distance so that is probably the one which is considered to be my toughest fight. I would say I haven't found an opponent in the pros who could stand my speed and power.
Q: What are your goals for the future?
A: Of course, I want to become World Champion as soon as possible. I decided to turn pro to win the title and I think I'm ready to compete with the best.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Many people think I am arrogant because I like to keep my fists pretty low. But that is just the way I fight. I am an aggressive fighter. When I step into the ring I want to overwhelm and destroy my opponent. I am "El Ciclon", I blow away whoever enters the ring with me.
Q: People only know the exciting powerhouse Gamboa in the ring - what are you like in private life?
A: I would say I am a family man. At home I am not "El Ciclon". I love my wife Dunia and my daughter Brenda. I would do anything for her. She is the main reason why I do what I do. I want to earn money to give her the great life she deserves.
Q: What is your favorite kind of music?
A: I like Hip Hop. My favourite artists are 50cent, Jay-Z, etc. I also like other Black and Latin music.
Q: Which sports do you like apart from boxing?
A: I watch baseball and basketball but if you spend most of your time in sports gyms you are not that much into other sports.
Q: Do you have any idols or role models in boxing?
A: I was brought up with lots of great Cuban fighters and I wanted to be like them. And in fact, my father has been an amateur boxer and, of course, I wanted to be like him as well. But when I found out that I had a special gift to do what I do I decided to go my own way and create my own style rather than copying others.
